2. Which of the three societies treated women the worst? Which treated women the most equally?
3. What is a commonality between these three patriarchal societies?

Women were treated the worst in Athens. They were not aloud out unless it was for a festival or a funeral.

1) Patriarchal societies can never be justified, not because I myself believe their beliefs are wrong, but because you cannot depict whether or not one's beliefs are correct or not. It is based solely on what a person believes is best for them at that moment or in the long term, whichever they are thinking about when they are confronted with a situation that either exemplifies their thoughts towards patriarchal societies or forces them to state their opinion.

No they cant be justified because they have complete control over the women. This is ridiculous. Women should have complete equal rights. Just as men shouldn't have power over women, women shouldn't have power over men.

Patriarchal societies can not be justified because there is no reasoning behind patriarchy. By viewing women as lower the society is actually hurting instead of helping itself by shutting out the assistance women can offer. What these societies have in common is that In all of these societies the patriarchy died out. It wasn't really intentional, but just kind of faded away.

China treated women the worst and Sparta treated their women the most equally. The one thing all three patriarchies have in common is that all three of them give more rights to the men. The women are mostly expected to just stay indoors while the men go out and do all of the important work. Of course some societies allow more equal rights to their women but those women still aren't as free as the men to do what they want.

I think that China treated women the worst and Sparta treated women the most equal. I think this because in China, women were only respected for having sons while in Sparta, women could do things other than have children.

a commonality between these three patriarchal societies is their restrictions vary on harshness depending on how the society is doing economically at the time.

I believe that patriarchy is never acceptable because women have played very valuable roles in society throughout history that some men may have never been capable of doing. Also, women can do anything men can do.

1. Honestly I don't think it can. Men shouldn't have all the control over women. In today's society, women being controlled by their sons and the fact that women have to stay inside and can't leave their houses would be looked down upon as well.

1. Patriarchal societies have reason to be justified based on their moral values. For example, in present day China, the role of women has changed very little; women are still viewed unequally and based on upbringing, they accept-- dsafojhwergre OUT OF TIME

2) Athens treated women the worst in comparison to Sparta and china because they never really struggled financially so their citizens were able to focus more on social etiquette and respect towards your social and political superiors over focus on food, shelter or war. Sparta treated women the most equally compared to china and Athens because men weren't in the position to treat women horribly because they hadn't had any more power over them in society; women did jobs at home (as in the city) while men were away for military training and war. Women basically ran the city.

I agree w/ Daphne Athenian women were treated worst while Spartan women were treated the most equally as a patriarchal society could. Athenian women could only go out of the house on the most special occasions, could not buy or sell land property, and were called the wife or mother of whomever in a legal matter. Where as a Spartan woman was allowed to participate in sports. Spartan women were allowed to do more. The most common is not allowing women in political things.

Yes, During that time women did not need the job because they lived off of any male figure in their life as long as they took care of home duties they did not need jobs.

2. Athens treated women the worst because in their society of complete equality for non-slave men women had been treated like they only serve the purpose of helping men. while in China women may have been treated worse than men, but in their own home women were treated like the emperor of the house. They were allowed to contribute to their income through weaving or fishing. If women were born into a noble family in china they could even have say in the government.

2) Athens treated women the worst. Athens had the most restrictions out of the three and women had little to no rights. Sparta treated women the best. They married men at their own age, took over social and political duties when the men were at war, and less restrictions.

Athens treated them the worst; they were to be represented by a guardian when they went out and they usually are to stay home. Women were not allowed to participate in assembly and jury. Spartans treated them the most equality by allowing them to do more things when the men went off to war.

2. Sparta treated women the best because women were needed for much of life issues. They needed to have kids, run the household, and take place for men when they were off to war. Athens treated women the worst as they were not allowed to participate in any type of politics or other issues.

1. Patriarchal societies are not justified because women are equal people. There is no reason to make them lesser and keep them from doing anything that a man would do. On top of that, women were treated very poorly in these societies and there was no factual reason to treat them that way. Sparta treated women the best by allowing them to be involved so much due to the fact that men were fighting wars.
