1. What exactly does Thomas Paine mean by this?
2. Do you agree with his statement?
Today in class we discussed many reasons that American colonists would not have wanted to totally break away from Great Britain and began reading Thomas Paine's "Common Sense". In his pamphlet, Paine addresses one of these reasons in his statement "The commerce by which she (America) hath enriched herself are the necessaries of life, and will always have a market while eating is the custom of Europe..."
I would like for you to answer two questions: 1. What exactly does Thomas Paine mean by this? 2. Do you agree with his statement?

Hey guys. Sorry about being late on posting this, but I have not been able to actually get into my room to work on my computer. Anyway, due to this oversight, I'll allow postings on this topic all the way up to August 15.
